SELF PROTECTION PLAN

1) What is a self-protection plan?

It is generally the responsibility of organisations and businesses  to develop a clear self-protection plan, where any given activity, facility, or center, is analzed for emergencies that may occur as a result of their own activity or through external risk situations and disasters  which may impact on that facility, centre or activity. The plan must establish the mechanisms by which that  emergency can be avoided and/or the steps to be taken in the event of such an emergency occurring. In Catalonia  this document is known as PAU, the contents of which are determined by Decree 82/2010 passed by the Catalan Government

2) Who is responsible for the development and implementation of PAUs?

The PAU is the responsibility of the owner/designated head of the business or organisation. Some of the key  obligations under Decree 82/2010 are:

-          Ensure self-protection conditions.

-          Develop the PAU.

-          Present the PAU to the competent administration.

-          Implement and maintain the PAU.

3) Who can DRAW UP the(PAU)?

Only competent technicians accredited by the Government are competent to develop the PAU. Ingetecnia has obtained accreditation to do so.

4) How much time is there to draw up the PAU?

-          For specific one-off activities (such as a yearly sporting event): Before the start of the activity.

-          New activities: 6 months from the start of the activity.

-          Existing activities: According to Decree 82/2010, currently all existing activities or facilities affected by it should have their PAU in place since the end of 2011.

5) What particular services does Ingetecnia offer?

-          Electronic register of activities affected  by Decree 30/2015.

-          Development of Self-Protection Plan (PAU) carried out by an accredited engineer.

-          Processing of documentation for approval of the PAU.

-          Presentation and defense of the PAU to the competent administration for its approval.

-          Service for implementation of the PAU in the activity.

-          Theoretical and practical training in the PAU.

-          Conducting emergency drills and reporting of drills undertaken.

-          Ongoing advice service on self-protection.
